Sendai Earthquake - Status

In light of the recent earthquake that has rocked Japan (and the resulting tsunami and aftershocks), it's time we keep all of Japan and people with family and friends in Japan in our thoughts and prayers.

Many people have died already but thanks to technology many more have been able to confirm safety.

ARASHI HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED SAFE by the VS Arashi staff. Aiba's family are fine, the restaurant/house are fine.

Like most of you, I don't only follow Arashi and so far the only JE injuries that have been reported have been minor injuries for Mabo, Yuto and Daiki. A few are still unaccounted for. I'll update when I get word.

That being taken care of, I ask all of you to keep the people of Japan in your thoughts and prayers. If you are in the US, can donate $10 (added to your phone bill!) to the Red Cross by texting REDCROSS to 90999. Please comment with other charities for people not in the US if you can.

I'd like to use this post as a "check-in". If you're looking for a specific LJ member, please leave their name in the comments and I will update the list with those we haven't heard from yet. Keep in mind that this DOES NOT mean they're necessarily in danger, as the north has been cut off from much communication due to internet difficulties, cell over-usage and power outages from the shut-down reactors. This list is not going to be limited to simply Arashi fans that are missing - if you know ANYONE in Japan that has not gotten in touch yet that has an LJ, go ahead and leave it here, pass it around. I'm hoping that we can hear from them soon!

Again, this list just means they have yet to check in! When someone does, please let me know and I will update again.

Please continue to pray and think of the people in Japan and our friends over there.

Thank you.

Edit: If you know the full name of someone who hasn't checked in yet, you can check the google people finder or make a listing for the person you're looking for as well.

Edit 2:

help_japan has been started. Please head over there if you'd like to be a part of it. Auctions will probably start soon.

Some of you have commented with Red Cross and charity links, THANK YOU! I'll compile a list of them here!
